Chairperson’s Message

Dear Friends,

The saying is “Reading is Fundamental” but where children are concerned eating should be held in equal regard. For without good daily nutrition, children find it difficult to focus on the “3 R’s” at school.

Nationwide studies indicate that 13 million children are victims of the growing hunger crisis and must receive their meals from food pantries and soup kitchens. It is appalling to think that in one of the world’s wealthiest nations, the physical and mental health of future generations are at risk, simply because we are failing to nourish them.

I encourage each of you to learn more about hunger in your respective communities and take every opportunity that comes your way to help combat this social enemy. If you have questions or suggestions, do not hesitate to drop us an email at amck83@hotmail.com - we’d be delighted to hear from you.

There’s another saying, “A Hungry Man is an Angry Man” but if everyone is afforded their fundamental human rights - which includes the right to food security, I believe that the likelihood of wars and social unrest, would be tremendously minimized.

Thank you for your interest in The AMcK Initiative’s anti-hunger mission and we look forward to your support.

Warm regards,
Angela McKenzie
