May 2011 IRINA FIRSTEIN Irina Firstein is a New York City based, licensed therapist who specializes in couples and individual therapy. She immigrated from Russia with her family as a teenager before the Iron Curtain fell and credits the struggles of their immigrant experience with awakening her desire to help others. Firstein describes herself as a romantic-at-heart who likes to shatter common relationship myths because every couple is unique. Today's edition of Initiative Radio addresses issues such as pre-marriage counseling, the effect that spectacles like the recent Royal Wedding have on the average single woman, extra-marital affairs and the internet, conflict resolution, the difference between emotional and sexual intimacy, how the elaborate wedding industry and "the size of the diamond" can overshadow the true sentiment of the occasion and the difference in men and women's perception of the marriage contract. Settle in for an hour of wise words from a woman who has twenty years of experience with matrimonial matters. http://www.archive.org/details/Ir-10-40IrinaFirsteinPsychotherapy JEFF EISENBERG On this edition of Initiative Radio, Angela McKenzie sits down with ASCAP award winning, singer-songwriter Jeff Eisenberg of "Junior Jam," a trio that sings high energy, interactive and educational songs for children. Eisenberg began his career as a Speech Therapist for the public school system and after working with kids and language development; he incorporated music with the lessons when he realized the routine of teaching language had become arduous for the kids. Taking the wisdom of his wife Eileen's saying, "Your word is your wand," Eisenberg communicates positive messages in his songs, so that kids can use them for expanding their outlook on life. His second career in music, as he calls it, has developed to become a fun way for kids to learn language concepts and express their experiences through their senses. The group's music incorporates different styles and genres such as Jazz, Rock and Pop. Eisenberg shares his opinion on speaking in slang, his inspiration for song writing, his self criticism and the origins of Angela's favorite pet song, "My Perfect Pet" and other gems like, "Happy Pants," "Move Baby Move," and "Say a Silly Word." Eisenberg believes in the power of music to teach children Sign Language and has started a "Sing and Sign" program with fellow Junior Jammer and Speech Therapist Elaine Kessler. The third member of Junior Jam is Adrienne Asterita. http://www.archive.org/details/Ir-10-39JuniorJamJeffEisenberg
SARAH McKECHNIE, President Sarah McKechnie is the International President of the Lucis Trust which was founded by Alice and Foster Bailey in 1922 and orginally named the Lucifer Publishing Company, to release Alice's writings which examined the principles and secrets of the Ageless Wisdom. Out of the Trust came The Arcane School, a free correspondence program that helps to develop the spiritual consciousness of an international student body, while guiding them in the growing awareness of their soul's true purpose. Lessons are taught in eight languages and emphasizes study, meditation and service to humankind. Today we learn about the life and times of Alice Bailey and her mentor Madame Helena Blavatsky, then McKechnie helps to clarify the so-called controversial threads of the Lucis Trust, from what inspired Bailey to name the organization after history's most famous fallen angel Lucifer; why they await the world teacher known as the Maitreya, if they take a position on population control and if the Trust's United Nations affiliated World Goodwill movement is part of a new world oder agenda for the establishinment of global governance. Like Alice Bailey, Sarah McKechnie is taking her professional and spiritual journey thorough life with her husband Dale McKechnie who serves as the Lucis Trust Vice President. http://www.archive.org/details/Ir-10-38LucisTrust&reCache=1
